Nude from the Studio - May 2010
For this image I wanted to capture the beauty of the naked body, where you can only see a certain section of skin. I used low key lighting to produce this image. I only used one light with a soft box, this was to create the shadow across her back.
Raising of the Totem Poll from Jasper Canada - July 2011
Here the young women are blowing fletchers and and waving branches on the Totem Poll, this is to get rid of any evil. Again this image was taken for the organisation Friends of Jasper.
Raising of the Totem Poll from Jasper Canada - July 2011
I was the event photographer for the raising of the Totem Poll for Friends of Jasper. Friends of Jasper organised the event, when the local aboriginal people gave them a Totem Poll as a gift because the other one had rotted away. It was the first Totem Poll raising in the national park in a 100 years. The women that I photographed (which later ended up in the local newspaper) was blessing the Totem Poll as she was the elder of the tribe.
Jasper Rafting Olympics From Jasper Canada- July 2011
I was the event photographer during the rafting olympics for a local Magazine called The Skinny. This magazine can be find online. I have chosen slightly different image to what the magazine chose because I prefer this image compositionally, where as the magazine chose images from the specific games that where going on. Having the mountains and tree’s standing up tall makes the people in the raft seem tiny. I feel it captures the essence of the Rocky Mountains and the people that live there.
With the Wildlife Photography Society, we went on another trip to Donnor Nook to see the grey seals. My aim was to get an image of the cows with their pups and hopefully an image of a cow giving birth. I almost saw a cow giving birth but I was about 10 seconds late, however I did manage to get images of the newborn pup. I stood watching the mother and her new pup for about an hour waiting to see the pup have it’s first feed, but this happened with the mother in front of the pup. They were captivating as they got to know each other and seeing the new pup wide eyed looking at the new surroundings.
